Doing the deal

Once your music has been accepted by Magnatune, here are the steps to finalizing things. We need 4 things from you:

  1. The agreement and the attachment
  2. W9 or W8 (U.S. tax form)
  3. A cd of your music (unless you already sent us one).
  4. Album artwork, photo, biographical, PR info.
Here are the details:
    2. Tax Form
    • Fill out a one-page US government form. If you are a US citizen, this is a W-9 form. If you are not a US citizen, this is a W8-BEN form (for help, see our W8-BEN EXAMPLE).
    • Fax both the distribution agreement and the US government form to us at (510) 217-6374 (USA) or email a scan or postal mail it.

    3. CD (you can skip this step if your submission to us was a cd)
    • Postal-mail your CD to us at:

      Magnatune (attn: Jan Hanford)
      2342 Shattuck Ave, Suite 524
      Berkeley, CA 94704
      USA

Or, make 44k/16bit .WAV files available over the web to us at our dropbox or sites like Yousendit or upload them to ftp://ftp.magnatune.com/incoming/. Be sure to send Jan an email letting her know where to find them.

    4. Artwork, photo, bio info, etc.
    • Email us your track listing, lbum artwork, as well as your PR materials (photographs, bios, etc). You can send them as email attachments, or indicate URL links to your site, or upload to ftp://ftp.magnatune.com/incoming/.
You're done! We'll be in communication with you when your page is ready for your review. If you have any questions, feel free to email John.
